This may be a huge year for Apple, but it's already a big year for Apple rumors. There's talk of the company introducing not one but two new iPhones in September, as well as its biggest iPad yet. And now, there are whispers of a wearable device, too.
Re/code's John Paczkowski speculated on Wednesday that the company mayintroduce its first wearable device as soon as next month. Paczkowski doesn't reveal what sort of insider information he has, but he sure sounds confident. There's no telling what this theoretical device would be called ("iWatch," anyone?) or what exactly it will do, but Paczkowski has a few ideas.
The device would likely make use of Apple's new "HealthKit" for iOS 8, which was announced earlier this year. HealthKit is meant to collect health and fitness data from your wearables.
The "iWatch" may also work with Apple HomeKit -- software for controlling things in your house -- Paczkowski predicts. The first HomeKit-enabled device is a lock that you can control with your smartphone.
The news is all exciting and all, but take it with a grain of salt. Apple has not yet confirmed it's holding an event in September.
