Julia Roberts is all set to join the cast of 'Secret in Their Eyes' remake. The actress is in talks to feature in the English remake of the Argentinian thriller.
If the negotiation goes through then Julia Roberts will join Gwyneth Paltrow and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who are already on board.
Billy Ray is directing the movie, which he has also scripted. The film is being packaged by IM Global in Toronto. IM Global is also financing the project.
Shooting for the film will start in October.
The film makers are keen to have Julia Roberts on board. Apparently the role for which Roberts is being considered was initially supposed to be played by a male actor. But Ray reportedly made changes to the script specifically for Julia Roberts. Originally the movie was to be filmed in Boston but now the shooting will take place in Los Angeles.
The original film won the 2010 Oscar for best foreign-language film. The story centres around a retired attorney who wants closure of an unsolved case. He also wants to bring closure to his unrequited love towards his former senior by writing a book. In the process he opens more doors and secrets, which are decades long, get revealed. Juan Jose Campanella had written and directed the original film.
If the actress joins the project then it will be a reunion for Roberts and Paltrow. They had last appeared together in Steven Spielberg’s 1991 film 'Hook'. Paltrow had played a small role as young Wendy in the film.
