CBS has finally officially announced the Season 25 cast of ‘The Amazing Race,’ which will include pro surfer Bethany Hamilton — and there’s a twist!
Season 25 of The Amazing Race premieres September 25, and CBS has — finally — made an official cast announcement. Though pro surfer Bethany Hamilton, 24, was photographed in Times Square back in May as they kicked off the race around the world, CBS has made her and the rest of the cast official — as well as added a twist.

Joining Bethany on her team will be her husband, Survivor alum Adam Dirks, 26. The CBS synergy doesn’t stop there — other Survivor alums include Whitney Duncan, 29, and Keith Tollefson, 29, who competed in the show’s 23rd season.
For its 25th landmark season, CBS has introduced a twist — “The Save.” The team that finishes first in the first race earns a save which they can use to keep themselves from elimination in the event that they finish last in a race.
It’s an interesting way to shake things up and to inject some drama into the fairly by-rote reality competition series which, to its incredible credit, has won a staggering 10 Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.
In a seeming echo of their success, by starting Season 25 in Times Square, CBS is reminding diehard fans of The Amazing Race‘s very first season all the way back in 2001, which kicked off in Central Park.
