AN INDIAN newspaper has caused outrage for publishing a sexist report and photo gallery dedicated to a Bollywood star’s cleavage.
Deepika Padukone has received support from fans and big Bollywood names after the Times of India tweeted a photo with a link to a photo gallery and caption, “OMG: Deepika Padukone’s cleavage show”.
A furious Padukone responded on Twitter, “YES! I am a Woman. I have breasts AND a cleavage! You got a problem!!??”
The newspaper later deleted the insulting tweet before posting another one urging the Indian actress to consider the story a compliment.
“You look so great that we want to make sure everyone knew! :),” Times of India tweeted.
Celebrities and film buffs have come out in support of Padukone, proud that she stood up for herself.
“Appalled ... shocked and disgusted at the level of disrespect shown. Deepika or any women in the world cannot and should not stand for this!!” director Karan Johar wrote on Twitter.
“I just read ... about @deepikapadukone retort to cheap sensational journalism, well done girl,” actor Arjun Rampal tweeted.
Padukone is one of India’s most successful models and actresses, making her acting debut in 2006.
However she shot to fame a year later after being cast opposite superstar Shahrukh Khan in Om Shanti Om.
