Although most of the SoC Processors and GPU on the market is based on 28nm production process, the semiconductor giants are already looking forward; just think for example that Intel has already proposed to the public on the first chip to 14nm and many other big names in the industry think about 20nm for 2015.
Among these companies obviously Samsung wants to continue to have a leading role and for that announces to have given the "green light" to the manufacturing process to 14nm FinFET.
The first to benefit from this step will obviously be the next Exynos, with Apple and AMD, which in turn will exploit the new technology to the device next year (for Apple iPhone and Application Processor for AMD).
The 14nm process will reduce the surface of the chip by 15% while consumption will drop as much as 35%; on the contrary, could have SoC with frequencies higher than 20%.
